Walking Lightly will be hosting monthly educational workshops to learn (and play) about living life more sustainably. We're thrilled to welcome back Jessica Spencer, who is a local sewist doing alterations from her home studio. She has been sewing and creating her own patterns since she got her first machine at age 14. She has degrees in fashion design and history, which have heavily influenced her decision to live more sustainably and to share that lifestyle with others.
For this class, you are encouraged to byo sewing machine if you have one to learn the mechanics of how it works. While machines have a lot of shared basic mechanics, there are some variations machine to machine, so if you have your own that is portable, we're encouraging you to bring it. If you don't have a machine, there will be machines provided to practice on/learn about. This can be helpful if you'll be borrowing from a library-of-things, or if you are thinking of getting your own.
